Removed Fink from toughguy

I am running out of space on toughguy so I removed the Fink repository. From the logs it looks like nobody was using it on a regular basis. If I was wrong about this, please let me know and we'll see if we can make room for it.

thanks,
chad

respository locations

Beginning immediately, some repositories that have been accessible from /pub have been moved to /pub/toughguy. These are repositories that are only accessible from the Caltech network.

Please adjust your config files accordingly.

I am working on a standard yum and apt sources list file. I will post these shortly.

Rebuilding apt repositories

I'm currently in the process of rebuilding the apt repositories. I plan to do RedHat 7.3, 8.0, 9, and Fedora Core 1. Most of the other mirrored sites already have apt and yum repositories built into them, so I won't bother duplicating them. In a bit I'll create sample apt and yum sources files that you can plug in to utilize the mirrors on toughguy.

Welcome to the new toughguy!

Welcome to the new and imporoved toughguy!

Thanks to those in charge in the ITS SMS group, toughguy is now a brand new Dell dual-processor server with a 1/2 terabyte RAID.

Most of the mirrors have been re-synced and are operational.

Your favorite linux distributions will be mirrored as usual, with an extra emphasis on the many external rpm databases out there for RedHat and Fedora. All repositories will be available via apt or yum if they are not already.

Toughguy is currently available via both http and ftp from on and off campus. Top priority will always be given to campus users, and off campus access will be restricted if it proves to slow down campus access.

Plans to place toughguy on a gigabit link are also in the works.

Details of changes and instructions on how to use this mirror via apt and yum will be placed here. Please check back every so often for updates and news.

Finally, I will try to add the mirrors you have requested of me in the past and I could not add, either due to not enough dask space, or more recently, the bad disks in the old toughguy. If you don't see a mirror you have requested, or would like to see something else mirrored, please don't hesitate to drop me a line. Additional comments or questions are always welcome as well.

thanks,
chad
